Harmon House is a 109-bed -Skilled Nursing Center -that offers -Specialty Care, -Rehabilitation, and Nursing Care on a long or short-term basis.
Central to our modern facility is a lovely mansion, which was built in the early 1900s and served as a family home until the mid-1970s. Subsequently, we purchased the mansion, totally renovated and modernized the interior, and built two new buildings attached to it, in keeping with the style of the mansion. The mansion now houses administrative and support offices, while the two new interconnected structures include the two-story Harmon House Care Center and the five-story Amber House.
The Director of Maintenance will be wholly responsible for overseeing all associated functions, as head of the maintenance unit. This management-level role comes with a host of diverse responsibilities, critical to the success of the organization, including:

  • Interviewing, hiring, training and overseeing maintenance department employees
  • Conducting ongoing performance appraisals to ensure the utmost in quality performance and safety
  • Delivering timely repairs to maintain the highest levels of safety for the facility
  • Maintaining the performance, condition and reliability of all plumbing, mechanical and electric equipment
  • Developing and implementing facility-wide maintenance policies, in partnership with the Administrator
  • Hiring and overseeing outside maintenance and safety service providers, and ensuring timely work is completed within budget and center guidelines
  • Developing and maintaining a system for organizing/storing preventative maintenance records, and ensuring all necessary maintenance is performed, as needed
  • Planning and conducting annual safety trainings, including fire and emergency drills

    In addition to this role's managerial functions, the Director of Maintenance will be expected to function as a safety office for the facility, conducting safety tours, scheduling/organizing relevant in-services and conducting safety committee meetings quarterly. Additionally, this leader will be expected to attend ongoing professional trainings and continuing education seminars/conferences to ensure ongoing growth and development for the unit.
    The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare facility building management, with a strong working knowledge of building codes and safety regulations. Well-developed verbal and communication skills are essential, as is a topnotch work ethic and problem solving capabilities. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate's degree in environment services or a related field preferred. -
