Job Description Summary With limited supervision, the Clinical
Staff Leader (CSL) reports to the Nurse Manager. For each shift
worked, the CSL functions as the department’s designated nurse
leader providing operational oversight and staff supervision. The
CSL works in coordination with nursing leadership. The position
ensures the achievement of optimal evidence-based patient care and
department goals through efficient daily operations and compliance
with established rules, regulations, and guidelines. The CSL
promotes Shared Governance structure and functions. The CSL assists
with providing leadership presence and staff support by providing
coverage for a minimum 1 holiday per year and 2 weekend shifts per
six (6) weeks of unit staffing schedule, or the equivalent of 3

Standards Act Status: Salary Job Summary/Purpose: With limited

nursing leadership. The position ensures the achievement of optimal

holiday per year and 2 weekend shifts per six (6) weeks of unit
staffing schedule, or the equivalent of 3 weekend shifts every 2
schedules. Minimum Training and Education : Bachelor of Nursing
degree or Associates of Nursing degree and currently enrolled in an
accredited BSN program with one year of work experience as a
Registered Nurse required. Certification in specialty area is
strongly preferred. Successful completion of CSL competency-based
training is required within a designated time period. Extensive
knowledge of the department’s patient population, health care
trends, community and regional resources and service availability
to these populations. Demonstrated ability to establish effective
collegial working relationships with diverse groups and
individuals, medical staff, and other healthcare disciplines.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations : Licensure as a
registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a
compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a
certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for
Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American
Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Some positions require certification in Advanced Cardiac Life
Support. Certification as a generalist in a related specialty area
by the American Nurses Association (ANA) preferred. Additional Job
