Savannah, Georgia Hospitalist Medical Director Locum Tenens Hospital Medicine Leadership • Level I Trauma Center • Epic EMR • Regional Referral Hospital Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking an experienced Hospitalist Physician with leadership experience to step into a Medical Director / Team Lead role supporting a large regional hospital medicine program in Savannah, Georgia . This position blends clinical Hospitalist practice with program leadership responsibilities , partnering with hospital administration and physician leadership to drive operational performance, provider engagement, and patient care quality. This is an ideal opportunity for a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine trained Hospitalist with prior leadership experience who enjoys building strong teams and improving hospital medicine programs. Assignment Overview Location: Savannah, Georgia Setting: Hospital Medicine Program – Regional Tertiary Care Hospital Start Date: ASAP Duration: Minimum 3 months (likely 6–9 months) Schedule: Clinical shifts plus leadership responsibilities EMR: Epic Facility Snapshot This hospital serves as a major regional referral center for Southeast Georgia and Southern South Carolina , providing advanced tertiary care and specialty services. Facility highlights include: Approx. 600 hospital beds Level I Trauma Center Dedicated children’s hospital on campus Major teaching affiliate for a medical school Graduate medical education programs including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Radiology, and OB/GYN The hospital serves patients across more than 35 counties throughout the region , making it one of the most significant medical centers in coastal Georgia. Hospital Medicine Program Environment Large inpatient service with multidisciplinary collaboration including: Cardiology Pulmonology Neurology Oncology Surgical services Advanced critical care Full specialty consultation availability This is a high-volume regional hospital medicine program supported by a large clinical staff and specialty service infrastructure. Leadership Responsibilities The Medical Director / Team Lead will play a key role in guiding the hospital medicine program. Responsibilities include: Partnering with hospital leadership including the Chief Medical Officer to ensure clinical quality and operational success Managing physician scheduling and helping fill open shifts Assisting with provider performance management and conflict resolution Participating in physician recruiting and interviewing for full-time team members Supporting operational goals including: Length of stay metrics Patient satisfaction targets Physician retention and engagement Quality improvement initiatives This role acts as the bridge between hospital administration and the hospitalist team to ensure the program runs smoothly and meets system-wide standards. Clinical Responsibilities Provide comprehensive inpatient care for adult medical patients Manage admissions, rounding, and discharge planning Collaborate with consulting specialists across multiple service lines Ensure timely and accurate documentation within Epic EMR Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination with nursing, case management, and ancillary services Candidate Requirements Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Active Georgia medical license (or ability to obtain) Leadership experience required including: Hospitalist team leadership Medical director responsibilities Scheduling or operational oversight Strong communication and team-building skills preferred.
