Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: CVOR Technologist - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Duration: 12 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job ID: T4H - 914 Position Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Facility: Roper Hospital Location: 316 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401 Contract Length: 12 Weeks Hours: 40 hours/week | 8-hour shifts Shift: Day Shift | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM Call Requirements: 2 weekday calls and every 3rd–4th weekend call Unit Type: Cardiac and Vascular OR Setting: Acute Care – Operating Room Job Summary: The Certified Surgical Technologist provides safe, effective, and quality care for patients in the operating room, supporting procedures in accordance with hospital standards and surgical best practices. This role includes scrubbing duties, maintaining asepsis, preparing surgical environments, and collaborating closely with the surgical team—but does not act as a surgical first assistant. Key Responsibilities: - Assist RN with planning and coordinating patient care - Perform scrubbing duties, set up sterile fields, and maintain aseptic technique - Handle instruments and supplies, ensuring all equipment is accounted for - Communicate clearly with team members, patients, and visitors - Precept new staff or students as needed - Maintain and clean surgical equipment and operating room environment Required Skills & Experience: - Minimum 1 year of clinical OR experience (Cardiac and Vascular preferred) - Strong communication and teamwork skills - Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment - Familiarity with performance improvement and infection control standards Work Conditions: - Frequent standing, bending, crouching, and lifting (up to 50 lbs) - Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and moderate-to-high noise levels - Must be able to work under stressful conditions, irregular hours, weekends, and take call Required Certifications & Education: - BLS – American Heart Association (Required) - NBSTSA Certification – Required - High School Diploma or GED – Required - Must meet South Carolina Surgical Technologist eligibility via one of the following: - Graduate of an accredited surgical tech program with certification (within 3 months) - Military surgical tech training - Practiced prior to Jan 1, 2008, in SC - Federal employee performing surgical tech duties About Talent4Health A leader and innovator, offering comprehensive talent solutions for the healthcare industry across the nation.
