Job Description Job Description We are looking for a motivated and detail-driven Senior Staff Accountant to join our team in Ladson, South Carolina. This is a long-term contract position, offering an excellent opportunity to manage and optimize accounting functions for this division. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, hands-on environment. Responsibilities: • Manage and rebuild accounting records for the division, ensuring accuracy and completeness. • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including aging reports, trial balances, accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable (AP). • Oversee billing and collections processes for AR and AP to maintain timeliness and accuracy. • Investigate and correct historical data to support a full reconstruction of accounting records. • Perform account reconciliations and ensure all balances and statements align with company financial policies. • Assist in the setup and effective use of QuickBooks for accounting functions. • Collaborate with the Controller, fractional accounting team, and General Manager to facilitate a seamless transition of accounting responsibilities. • Apply critical thinking to identify and address accounting issues, ensuring long-term improvements. • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies. • Provide support for tax-related tasks, including corporate and sales tax processes. • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction or subcontractor industry. • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online is essential. • Proven knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and financial reporting. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies. • Familiarity with corporate tax returns, sales tax, and journal entries. • Experience with general ledger management and financial reconciliation. • Ability to excel in a hands-on environment focused on rebuilding and optimization. • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
