Job Description:

Careers with our clients through DHG Search Our client is a large physician practice group with multiple locations. The Controller is responsible for internal and external financial reporting, annual budgeting and financial analysis, cash and investment management, financing and capital structure, and risk management. The Controller plays a key role in achieving the company's operating and financial objectives, maintaining ongoing financial viability and cash flow, and responding to stakeholders and community needs. The Controller reports to the CFO and also provides reporting and presentations to an executive team. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with a high performing Accounting/Finance Team, oversee the accounting departments and establish appropriate key performance indicators to evaluate and measure success
  • Prepare and report monthly and annual financial statements, in accordance with GAAP and management reporting criteria to both the executive team and Board of Trustees including key performance indicators to measure and evaluate our performance against key benchmarks for the industry.
  • Responsible for managing the financial integrity of the Treasury, Payroll, A/P, and financial reporting
  • Manage annual audit function, processes, and output
  • Manage and ensure compliance with all financial policies with solid internal controls
  • Manage and maintain appropriate reporting for all debt obligations for compliance with terms and covenants.
  • Manage investment and endowment accounts working with outside advisors
  • Ensure compliance with pertinent state and federal laws, licensure requirements and values, policies, procedures and protocols
  • Accumulate and manage financial data to support the evaluation and decision making relating to favorable vendor agreements, joint ventures, ancillary contracts, and managed care contracts
  • Assure sound communications and relationships are maintained with providers, vendors and insurers
  • Build and manage relationships, provide back-up to any of the daily operations of A/R, A/P, billing, coding and payroll
  • Develop annual risk management plan and reporting to the Board of Trustees including annual analysis of insurance coverages and renewal of policies
  • Manage insurance claims and implementing safety procedures to reduce risk
  • Review and approve capital project cost estimates to validate pricing and work to be done, ensure contractors maintain appropriate levels of insurance, and that we have appropriate insurance certificates
  • Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum of 10+ years previous experience and preferably 5+ years of experience of leadership and management. Industry experience in healthcare, preferably large physician practice groups, strongly desired. Experience with a healthcare organization affiliated with a medical university a plus.
    • A Baccalaureate Degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Management, or a related field is required
    • Master's Degree in Business, Accounting or Healthcare Management preferred
    • CPA preferred TECHNICAL AND COMPUTER SKILLS
      • Strong IT implementation experience or knowledge
      • Ability to establish and oversee the maintenance of advanced accounting and asset management software
      • Extensive skills as it pertains to personal computers and spreadsheet programs, and comprehensive accounting and human resource systems PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
        • Thorough knowledge and understanding of non-profit, and for profit physician practice financial accounting, including Medicare regulations, debt covenants, managerial finance, financial analysis and revenue cycle management required
        • A management style which emphasizes integrity, transparency, congeniality, teamwork, participation and communication
        • Ability to accurately analyze complex financial and accounting data and effectively communicate it to a wide variety of executives, clinicians and others in lay terms
        • Ability to manage complex capital structure and relationships with department leaders and external parties
        • Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills on an individual and group basis, as well as excellent writing skills
        • An executive demeanor, with a proven track record of solving problems
        • Ability to supervise staff through motivation, delegation, evaluation and training
        • Willingness to "roll up his/her sleeves" and apply the attributes listed above
