Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Charleston-Dorchester Mental Health Center (WAC), 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414.

Team Leader, School Mental Health:
This position is for a Mental Health Manager to supervise therapists who serve children and their families in accordance with a contract between the Charleston County School District (CCSD) and Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center (CDMHC). Managers provide both clinical and administrative supervision, as well as some direct mental health services.

Our clinicians provide advance, comprehensive mental health assessment, and clinical interventions to promote individual patient recovery. Sessions include individual, family, and group therapy using a full array of Evidence-Based Practices tailored to the individual's needs and preferences. Outcome measures also completed at regular intervals to ensure an accurate level of care to those we serve.

Our organization also provides outpatient psychiatric and nursing services, so clinicians will act as part of a multidisciplinary team. Services are primarily provided in the school but are also provided in home, clinic, and community settings, as well as via telehealth when appropriate, such as when school is not in session.

Therapists are responsible for documenting services in a timely manner using an Electronic Medical Record system. All necessary technology will be provided. Mangers have duties related to oversight of documentation by clinicians on their team.

Regular individuals and team supervisions is also provided.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.
    • 3 years post-graduate experience.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Working knowledge of mental health legal principles and practices
        • Methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services
          • Considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in a psychiatric setting.
            • Working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies.
              • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions. Additional Comments
